Extreme Makeover

Does anyone here watch the show "Extreme Makeover- Home Edition"? Well the premise I guess is, they find families in need and go in and completely rer*****te their home. It's amazing. So I saw the advertisement for tonight's episode last week and it caught my attention (I don't typically watch the show all that often). I ended up catching the last 15 minutes of it because I forgot it was on... and the crazy thing is, the woman whose house they re did, has MS. I saw on the preview that she walked very unsteadily with 2 canes and I was drawn to find out why. She is a single mother of 2 teenage boys and she was an absolute inspiration. I guess she had been very involved in dance all her life until she came down with MS 20 years ago. So now she runs a dance studio which ABC also rer*****ted for her. They re-did her house with alot of hand rails, and coutertops etc waist high so she can hold on for support when walking around the kitchen and living room. Outside they built this little building so she can get away every once in awhile and releave stress (which they made note is bad for MS, as we all know). It was complete with a huge running waterfall and massage type table for serenity. It was absolutely incredible what they did for this woman and her kids, and her outlook was trully an inspiration. I hope someone else caught the episode because I was in awe the whole time. I remember thinking "She would be better off in a wheelchair" because she seemed so unsteady walking, but her will to not let MS get the best of her seemed to push her to take one step at a time. Just wanted to share because I thought it was so inspiring! Take care everyone

Re: Extreme Makeover

yes i watched it! it was great,, the actually tore down her house and built a new one,, she was only diagnosed in february of 2000,,, so she has only known she has had MS for 6 yrs now,, and i bawled and bawled,,, cause i know exactly how she feels and what she is gone thru,, my daughter wanted to sign us up for that show,, but i think they work on it too fast and it would eventually have alot of problems not being able to cure in certain places so we did ours ourself this past summer and my dad helped us,,, my bedroom was only an 8x18 and we had a queen size bed i only had a few inches to get in and out of bed,,, and we made it 18x20 my hubby and brother are the ones who did the work,, cause my brother is a contractor,, while we were at it we added 5 feet on to our daughters room width wise,, and put in a gas furnace and central air and redid floors and things to be more easy for me! it is great i am so happy, it isn;t quite finsihed yet but it is coming alone, i was so glad that ABC could help her cause it was really needed,,, her house had alot of steps from room to room, and she had a basement where her washer and dryer was and she couldn;t do those anymore so her sons did the laundry bless their little hearts! my daughter does alot for me too,,, but alot i can still do for myself,, for having a one floor home now!
