Hi board I am newly diagnosed and was told to do some research on the meds on the market, does anyone have any pros's or cons...... Thanks I work swing shifts and am looking for ease as well as one with the least amount of side effects.
You will read people praising and hating virtually every drug on this site!
I am on Avonex, the first 2-3 shots gave me minor flu symptoms and now I have no reaction. I like it because it's once a week and interferes with my life very little. I am staying pretty level in my symptoms; some balance problems, fatigue and loss of hearing are stabilized.
I have a friend who has been on it 5 years and has had no recurrences. He's my hero!!
I've been on Copaxone since November. I chose it because I still work full-time and I travel often, I didn't want to deal with side-effects.
Even though it is a daily injection, it is easy and I don't have side-effects at all. I've been doing quite well, even think my "cognitive difficulties" have improved.

I've been on rebif since diagnosed nearly 3yrs ago. No relapses since. I do still get some flu feelings after taking - not always. If you take before bed - you should sleep it off.
Rebif is only taken 3 times a week and its a sub cut injection so not painful after you get used to doing it.
I have 2 other family members on it and they have no complaints although one has slow progressive so not sure if its the best for him.
Do plenty of research and dont be afraid to ask lots of questions.
I was curious to find out if anybody can say what drug hey are on and why? I am newly diagnosed and I am going to see a MS specialist @ MT Saini Hospital in Manhattan 6/13. Today I finished up my steriod infusion and I was told I should feel great, and I feel no different.... Will I ever feel good?
