I am up because the twitching and jerking and jolting is distracting me from sleeping. I want to much to go to sleep

. I have an important meeting in the morning. I want to know if anyone knows why the muscle spasms and twitches get worse when I laydown to rest. It's almost like my muscle kick into high gear because I am finally at rest. I mean I have the spasms throughout the day but I notice that when I lay across the sofa or get into bed to watch tv the spasms increase both in frequency, locations, and strength. Anyone know why?
