Sore? - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

Just curious!! To the ones that have been diagnosed with MS do you ever get sore to the touch? If my dog tries to walk on my legs it hurts so bad and he only weighs 10 pounds. I can also pass by my couch or chair, which is fully padded, and it will hurt my leg if when I walk by and it rubs my leg. Is this a normal symptom of MS? Thanks for your replies.

I have not been dx'd yet, but saw a neuro and on the path to find out what everything is. I suspect possible ms. I have my first MRI today.

But I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I have ALWAYS been like that. My cat can stand on my lap and thighs and it will about kill me

, or if I bump into something. Also, if I'm touched on the top of my hands with too much pressure, it hurts just as bad. I never could play that "hand slap" game the kids always played!

If I scratch an itch, esp on my thighs, upper arms, or on my back it hurts really bad and is sore like you described.

I'm interested too if any dx'd ms'ers experience this. I am dx'd with a whole host of other things, fibromyalgia being one of them and I always considered that too be the reason I do get this oversensitive soreness.

I have not been dx'd but I do suffer from many MS symptoms. Anyway, I have had times when my husband would touch me and I felt like I was being tortured. I wanted him to touch me--to hug me, but it felt so uncomfortable. There have been times when I had to hurt his little feelings and say "not tonight". But not because I didn't want to be close to him, but because the feeling of his hands on me was more pain than pleasure. I have never gotten to discuss the phenomenon with my neuro. I'm usually in tears before we get that far. If anyone can give some more info on this one, I would appreciate it.

Thanks so much for your replies. I am anxious to hear from others. I am trying to figure out if this is MS related or fibromyalgia related or totally something else all together. I don't think the doctors really know. I am glad to hear from you guys because I thought that I was losing my mind. I tell this to my doctor but he doesn't seem to know what it is. I would love to hear from others that are experiencing this also. Maybe we can figure out exactly what it is from. Blessed4Life, I can understand where you are coming from. My husband likes to come by and pat me on the butt and he doesn't understand that it hurts. Also if he just taps me with his finger on my arm, he can't understand how it hurts sooo bad. Mnewhall, I can understand you also. A cat doesn't weigh much either and it absolutely hurts when they stand on you. This is not normal. I also understand where you come from when you say that you scratch and it also can hurt. I'm sorry to hear that you are in tears by the time you get that far talking with your doctor, Blessed4Life. But understand completely. Maybe we will hear from others with this problem. Thanks again for your replies.
