Neck "Crunching"??

I've had this for sometime now and didn't think too much but I've read some of you mention neck cracking or something similar. When I move my head back & forth or side to side, I can hear - for lack of a better way to describe - a "crunching" type sound in the back of my neck .....anyone ever experienced this??

Re: Neck "Crunching"??

I get that crunching and cracking in my neck. Not all the time and I asked my neuro about it, because I thought that the lesion in my neck was causing it, but he says no that the lesion would not cause that.
He thinks it may be arthritis, which I am thinking might be normal for someone with a auto immune disease. He suggested talking to my fam dr who is a DO and maybe she can help I will talk to her about it next visit

Re: Neck "Crunching"??

I get the feeling that my neck bones are grinding and crunching when I lean my neck back and turn it side to side.

Re: Neck "Crunching"??

I was talking to a chiropractor friend of mine about my neck noise after a car accident. The noise had gotten louder. He said that it was arthritis and it was called "gravelling." He said it is common. So I had xrays of my neck for whiplash and sure enough, the doctor said I have arthritis. I guess it gets aggravated by inflammatory chemicals released from trauma.

Re: Neck "Crunching"??

i have that alot too,,,, i see a chiro, and he adjusts my neck, and it quits cracking after he adjusts it but within 2 days it is crunching again, which is my fault i assume, cause when i sleep i totally flip back and forth from side to side and i actually flip,, i hurt so bad, i can;t just roll,, i do it all night long, and in the mean time mess up my neck and spine!
