I know I take medication issues too far but I would rather be safe than sorry.... I have a pretty serious sinus infection happening and I am new to MS - about a year. I am taking Rebif - no complaints yet.
Is it OK to take sinus medication? What about antibiotics? I still don't know the ins and outs of everything - what is good or bad.

Any help would be great.....

Hi Tara,

Im not a doctor but I can tell you when I was on rebif and copaxone (both at seperate times) and I got a sinus infection I was never told I could not take antibiotics or over the counter meds. My family doctor is well informed about my MS and the meds I am on. He still has put me on antibiotics and everything was fine. What you could do to give yourself piece of mind is call one of the nurses that work at rebif. I cant remember the name of the company that does it. I think it was shared solutions for copaxone. Id have to look for my rebif stuff. You shuold have a 1-800 number to get a hold of someone there and they can tell you about drug interactions. No you are not crazy just careful.

Hi there. I see a lot about sinus infections on these boards. Are they related to MS somehow, or just coincidence?

coincidence...and that time of year...sinus infections are not related to MS in any reference I can find..
Also, my doc prescribes antibiotics for me whenver he feels they are needed..I actually feel better on them! I am on rebif....but yes, make the call, you should always look into things on your own, and never take the advice of others when it comes to YOUR body...
