Eyes went whacking during VER

I had a VER last week and have to wait until april to see the results, Just wondering for those of you who had that test how did your vision seem during the test? Everytime the tech would start the new segment I kept losing the red dot in my vision and everything went blurry. I would see the dot and all of a sudden it seemed like it would close in on me and i would lose sight of it all. What could that mean?. Has anyone had the same experience? i go next week for the auditory and sensory test cant wait to see how that is. they told me to call me doctor and get a sedative to help me relax because if have constant spams all over and they want me relaxed as possible. i hate this journey.

Re: Eyes went whacking during VER

Hi, I had my evoked potentials back in Nov 2006. I did all three parts at one time. It took about two hours. The sensory test the doctor gave me a sedative to be relaxed because the test sends like a slectrical shock to the nerves. During my VEP test, I had trouble focusing on the red dot. I know they did my test without my glasses, so it hard for me to see it. With the other squares moving back and forth, I felt very strange. I had trouble focusing. It seem like it was going further away or it could have been closer. I felt almost like I was going to have a seizure during the test.

This was my reaction to the VEP. My eyes came back abnormal on the test. However, I don't know if having response like mine necessary means you will also have abnormal reading. I only had to wait a week for my test results which led to having an LP. I had this VEP test done because I been having double vision and then a sudden changed in vision. This happened last July. I still have ongoing double vision and the vision I lost has not come back. I still hoping and praying that it will or that I don't lose anymore vision.

I hope that all goes well with your tests and you don't have MS. I pray also that you do find out what is wrong with you.

Re: Eyes went whacking during VER

I had trouble concentrating and keeping my eyes on the spot as well. Know the feeling! I had a good attitude during the test; I knew the Neuro was doing all be could to rule out everything BUT MS, so at least I felt like progress was being made. Try and look at it like you are on the road to finding something; it beats being on a road to nowhere, I guess.

So Cal Holly

Re: Eyes went whacking during VER

Thank you for your responses. I have had a LP in August and was negative for bands, also have had MRI and EMG'S done as well. I go for my next MRI this time with and without contrast at the end of this month. Since my first major attack in August I have still had symptoms and have developed new ones. I have not been very happy with my neuro so I am currently looking for a new one. My current neuro seems to make light of every symptom I have had. My last visit I blew up at him because he told me that he thinks I am depressed, I said I havent been depressed but I am starting too do to the lack of medical attention I have been receiving. Also told him I dont think I would have ended up paralysed in my left leg for 3 weeks due to depression.

During the VEP my left eye was the worst, I could only see the dot for a few seconds and I lost it. I had such a headache afterwards. I go this week for the auditory and sensory EP's. I would have had all 3 at once but my lovely current neuro office scheduled my for the wrong test.

Some days are just harder than others, the mental strain it takes just to say or write and type the write words. forgetting how to spell simple words. FRUSTATING!!!!

Thanks again for your responses.

Shannon
