Any Other Reason For Foot Numbness With Hot Shower - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

Does anyone know any other reason besides ms that would cause numbness in the foot in a hot shower? I have numbness in my right foot alll the time really it's just that it gets much worse in the shower or when my feet get hot. It's extremely obvious as soon as the shower starts to hit it and stays that way till I've cooled off. Yesterday I decided to really check this theory out and soaked my feet in hot water for a few min. and as I sat there (not long, about 2 min.) the numbness got worse and worse and spread up my shin to almost my knee. I didn't share this info with my neuro because I just didn't want him to think I'm trying to diagnose myself since I know how they hate that but shoot nobody else is doing it! I've also noticed in the past few months that when typing or writing I'm messing up the words, I have the right letters for the word but I type or write them mixed up then have to go back and fix it. It really is quite annoying to say the least! Oh well I hope I have the energy to go on until I can get some sort of diagnosis where someone can help me! Thank you all for being here it means alot.

Kara, I don't have an insight about other possible causes, but I do undertsand your wanting th test the theory!

And I also understand the annoying "mixing of letters" - have decided to post this WITHOUT going back to crrect it!

Kara, I don't answers for your either but it's good you're asking questions -- definitely keep track of what's going on for your doctor. I think we've all got to be careful about not immediately chalking everything up to MS, which is pretty easy to do with this fickle thing! Regardless of MS or the possibility of MS being in our lives, it's unfortunately probably not the only health issue with which we're going to have to deal in our lifetimes. I'm going through something like this now. Turns out it doesn't at least seem to be MS related but it would have been very eary to dismiss it as such. I'm now going to a regular neurologist to have it checked out further but I've gotten to this next step only by being diligent. As for your own situation, again, no real answers but some funky neuropathy can happen even when it's a back problem and/or there's pressure on a nerve for some reason.
