I got a short (2 week) prescription for Provigil even though I had such an awful reaction to it before because my fatigue has been getting in the way SO MUCH lately. So far, so goo. I took half a pill today and have felt nicely normal, so. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Hi Lisa!

I'm glad you posted this. I asked for Provigil but my doctors are wary of giving it to me because they've never prescribed it for anything but narcolepsy...so instead they gave me Adderall, which I will start on in about 3 weeks (i have to have a consultation first). I'm apprehensive becuase of the risk of dependency, etc, but my fatigue is so bad right now I can barely hold my head up. I'll be interested to see how you do with the Provigil this time. Good luck!

I have been posting on this board because the Neuro doctor thought my husband might have MS.

However when I seen this post, I wanted to tell about my experience with Provigil and ask a question.

I have fibromyalgia and my fatigue at times is very very bad. I talked my primary doc into RX Provigil for me because some FM patients have had sucess with it.

Provigil is very expensive but if it worked I didn't care. Well...it did not work for me...I was still tired with it but felt very jittery.

I soooooo wanted it to work!

Is there anything else that anyone has had success with????

There are a few drugs that are prescribed for fatigue. Provigil is just one. I was on Amantadine for a long time because it's cheaper, but after the first monthy, I never saw much reduction in the fatigue. I thought there were four drugs, but here's a list of three: Amantadine hydrochloride, Modafinil (Provigil), Prozac (Fluoxetine)...

The MS Society/Association web sites all have lists of the drugs used to treat MS and its symptoms.

Hi All. I am taking Provigil and it is working well for me - but I have seen on this board that it doesn't work well for everyone. I just want to say something about "risk of dependency". I've had considerable experience with addictive stimulants/amphetamines (cocaine, meth, generic "speed" - MANY YEARS AGO!) and will NOT take anything similar. I'm into my second 30 pills, I can choose to take it or not on any given day. If I don't take it I feel as if I missed my daily multi-vitamin, or like I didn't have coffee (without the headache). It is not (for me) ANYTHING like the illicit drugs. I do not CRAVE it.
