| Re: Is there a good neuro...anywhere?
It's tough finding *any* good specialist when you live in a rural or underpopulated area--not enough patients to make a living.
Do check with the MS society and see if they can help, and check your insurance to make sure you are covered.
I'm in northen New Mexico and drive a bout 3 hrs to Albuquerque to see my (fabulous) neuro. Good news is that once you are dx'd you won't need to make that long trip to MN or wherever very often. If you have a good local GP he or she can work w the neuro to manage side effects, relapses, etc.
And yes, limboland is awful. Even tho both the doc and I knew it was MS from physical exam and MRI, when he called M onday to say yes the spinal tap was positive I got practically giddy. Finally we can start treating this--Rebif.
I'm blessed to have excellent docs and insurance and to be old enough (54) to have gained some wisdom and equanimity in the face of challenges, of which I've had plenty. But today I'm a truly happy person, and having MS hasn't changed that a bit.
