Hi! I haven't officially been dx'd with MS, but the Doctor told my husband that's what they are leaning towards when he did my lumbar puncture. I'm scared to hear the results of everything on Monday, but will be relieved to know something. Does anyone have any advice on how to share this with my kids? My son is having chronic stomach aches, due to stress, and I'm not sure how to let him know it will be ok. Thanks for any advice you might be willing to share!

Kids are resilient. There is a book for kids written by a mom with MS. It explains pretty much what to expect. I think that a child is most stressed over the fact that the disease could mean a death. You can reassure your child that you are not dying for a loooong time! You can explain how you feel on certain days and why you might ask for your child's help on some days. My two kids adjusted really well to my PPMS. They never experienced my MS until 2002.

Much prayer and reassurance and you should get through this. It would do well of you to get as much info to your husband as well.

Thanks for your advice. My husband has been really good through all of this. His sister was diagnosed one year ago, and I think the fact that we've seen how they've dealt with it has helped. My husband and I have looked at about every site on the web dealing with MS, but without a definite diagnosis, it's hard to know what to do. People just look at me strange and wonder how I can be almost positive it is MS. I know I'm not a doctor, but I really think it is. I have so many of the symptoms. Do you know why an MRI report wouldn't say anything about lesions, but the doctor would see them? Also, do you know anything about homeopathic remedies, or should I stick with whatever the doctor says?

Many cases of MS will not show any lesions. You should depend on the Doctor (MS Specialist). There are other tests to be run. I have not used any meds for 25 years. As to homeopathic remedies, I only follow a balanced nutrition, watch my triggers, avoid stress, and listen to my body.

The local library has books on ms for children,even checking with the MS society.How old is your son?

My kids excepted it real well.but they were older,my son took it harder than my girls.

To do meds or not is up to each individual.I was dx'd in 1998 and had no attacks until 2004.I was on no meds until January 07.

Learning to listen to the body is the best advice I can give you,rest when your tired,if ya can't do it don't.Eat good.
