I wanted to share something with you all that happened today that gave me some peace.

My children see a councelor and have been with her for many years and she knows our family very well. It is a very laid back relationship and very comfortable. But I have not shared my physical problems in these sessions because I fealt this was "my" problem and not my childrens.

My son and I were joking on the way about what we would discuss today with her and I said "we'll talk about my problems" and he piped up and said he agrees that is a very good topic because it does affect them as well.

At that moment I realized that this does affect our families more than we realize. I agreed to share this today. And I am very glad I did!!

It wasn't a conversation of pity or sorrow, it was a discussion about changes. Her comment that really hit home was that now I didn't have to hold up to my Superwoman role. She said she didn't want to wish me unhealthy but maybe this was a blessing that those around me will have an opportunity to step up and for me to slow down. I have always done everything for everyone and like she said, my body is crying out for me to slow down. This made me realize she is right.

It was definately a sense of peace to accept things as they are. That with the bad can come some good if you let it. My children are learning that they need to be more responsible for themselves and they're surroundings. That I will always be there emotionally for them but physically it is much more challenging.

I'm learning that I need to take care of myself, slow down and rest (of course, I don't have a choice because this is what my body has decided for me) and to accept this change and find some good in it. I am one that believes that things happen for a reason. Changes can be challenging but they happen because they're suppose to.

I hope those of you out there that are feeling frustrated as I have myself, can try to look for the good it could bring if you allow it!!

Smile!! and just enjoy the things that bring you pleasure!!
