Does anyone know about the progress of getting an oral medication for MS? thanks! =)

When I was dx I was told that oral meds were available to me. They are still officially 'on trial' (in Ireland) but have been trialed in terms of researching benefits and side effects. They are just waiting for offical approval.

I had decided in the beginning not to take medication so I didn't ask for further information on them (I know I should have, and will ask at my next appointment). I don't even know the name.

Well i haven't heard anything. Didn't even know some exsist... I hope we get them in Australia as soon as they become available.. Sounds cool.. Cant wait cause these injections are a pain .( excuse the punt... lol...)

Hi Ali,
In USA they are in phase 3 trials, I believe....which means that it could be 2-3-4 up to 10 years away....its all up to the FDA....once before they got this close only to have them pulled for side effects, now they have made it this far again, so there is hope. If you read these boards, youll see that we have some people on the trial right now who report in....

My Neuro told me that he heard that the oral meds were going to come out around the end of 2009, I can't wait because 8 shots a week can get to be a little too much. I am going to do whatever I need to to make sure that I don't have another relapse.
