Anyone else experience this?

Hiya folks,
I have been quiet on the forum this week, it's been a tough week so far. I know this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar trigger occasion such as this:

This afternoon at the office, a stressful situation developed, and I really thought I had it under control in as much as keeping the triggers at bay. However, about 20 minutes later I heard a loud woosh/bzzzzzzzzz in my right ear, followed by the flight/fight sensation to the degree I had to step outside for fresh air. usual palpitation followed by added dizziness (that is a constant for me...) and electric shock/tingling in my upper back (this is also a constant for me...). This occurred about three hours ago, and all I want to do is sleep, the fatigue has hit me big, my left eye vision is blurry and my legs are heavy.

As far as stress triggers go I know this is a shot in the dark, but has anyone had a similar trigger take place with these symptoms?

MSNik - I am waiting for word on an MS Specialist from my friend. I am (like everyone else here that is facing the "limbo" situation) not enjoying the situation.

It is funny how we can tell for sure there is something wrong inside, and even though the medical wonders available today can't put a definite finger on "it" we face each day and cross each bridge as required.

Be very interesting to hear of similar triggers to mine today....

You all be blessed, and have a wonderful evening (it's almost the weekend )

Vic

Re: Anyone else experience this?

Vic.. hello. As I read your description the first thing for me that came to mind was a panic attack. It sounds so familiar to what happens to me (other than the issue with your back) when I have had panic attacks. The sounds in my ears and need to get out of whatever I am in like a building, house or car. It causes your heart to race and your body to tense up all over. A major adreneline rush happens and that's the reason for the fatigue afterwards.

Clearly I can't say for sure but it is what I thought of immediately. Have you had a panic attack before? It can be terrifying.

Just an idea.

Lisa

Re: Anyone else experience this?

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your rapid reply

I have indeed experienced a panic attack before, and although today the nature of the trigger was stress related - that is what has me thinking it may be a trigger that I need to watch in as far as possible avoiding stressful situations (practically impossible...). The buzzing/hissing in my ears is constant and I don't like it one bit. The tingling in my upper back eases when I rest.

It is perplexing to know that there are such a myriad of MS related symptoms out there, all similar, none the exact same, but all very debilitating

Appreciate your idea - comforting to know that many of us have close encounters within that we share freely here in this forum.

Vic

Stress is absolutely our number one enemy. No way to completely live a stress free life and truly live but limiting it as much as humanly possible is vital to our health.

We all share almost everything on this board. There are a million different views and personalities and more support and true caring than you will find anywhere in my opinion. We love to debate and share all of our battles.

Re: Anyone else experience this?

Hey Vic. Lisa is right, it does sound like a panic attack...but it could be something else as well. There are other tests, on your ears which should probably be done, just to rule out that anything medically is wrong. Again, seeing an MS doc will help, in the meantime, seeing an ENT is a possiblity? If you can...you might want to get your inner ear checked and anything else that they might be able to rule out.

Panic attacks and anxiety attacks hit me, too. They havent in quite a while, but they do strike..and yes, stress is usually the trigger. You and I both work fulltime, and it sounds like we have similar responsiblity at our jobs. The differeence is Im alone 99% of the time- just seeing people when I go to accounts, where you have people around. Its important to realize how you are going to deal with that. When you feel awful, you have to balance between knowing its time to get away and go outside, (to your car, to a quiet conference room, wherever it is you can go) or when to just buck up and fight your way thru it. Dont let your job get in jeapordy over this. If you cant work, it will only add to your stress levels and your feelings of "what if". Be careful whom you trust with this info, but if you do have one trusted person on the job, confide in them so that they can watch out for you, should you need medical attention or should you just need someone to cover your butt for a few hours. Know what I mean?

I think this is all one big clue to whatever is going on with you....until you can get some more tests run, you are going to have to be really brave and just keep venting here like you have been. At least you know you are NOT alone and others, including myself, have experienced what you are describing...makes it just alittle easier to deal with, doesnt it?

Big hugs, have a relaxing weekend, ok?
Nikki
