anyone have a normal mri but later found out they have ms

I have experienced Dizzy spells, extreme fatigue mid-afternoon followed by nausea and blurry vision w/muscle weakness. When the symptoms disappear they all disappear together. when they come back they come back suddenly and all together. I have had cat scans, eeg's, blood work and most recently an mri. Which I was told by the dr. that it is fine. The first thing he thought of was possible ms but now dismissed it due to the mri. this has started only this past 6 months & I am just barely over 40. He has checked every possible blood tests and those look good. Should I not worry about and just write down symptoms I experience or see another dr. When the symptoms go away, I feel fine and brush it off. I almost think the dr. thinks I am making this up. Does a normal mri indicate you are fine? Has anyone ever experienced this?

Hi cinders. What kind of doctor are you seeing If you are NOT seeing a Neurologist, I suggest you take your films, reports and labs to a Neuro for a consult.
Its very possible to have a normal MRI and still have MS, however, you didnt say what kind of MRI you had. Also, MS doesnt show up in any lab work. Generally MRIs of the brain and spine along with spinal taps and nerve conduction tests are what dx MS.
Have you seen a good neuro?

I just saw the neurologist for the 2nd time. I was referred from the Hospital so the first time I saw him he ordered the brain scan and today was the second time.

Re: anyone have a normal mri but later found out they have ms

waaaaaaay back in 1982 I had an MRI done. It was brand new and I was the first patient at KUMC for the unit. They did not see anything, but then it was 1982. IF you are in the earliest stages, you may not have an indications. That is one of the reasons to have another one 6 months down the road.

I continue to see my neuro every 6 months. With PPMS, it allows me to at least have disease progression recorded. I feel like I am pioneering a trail for others who come behind. There will someday be a cure- I hope- and I hope that I will have played a part in whatever insignificant way.

Yes, try not to worry (easier said than done) but keep track of your symptoms (symptom journal). There is no way to know at this time if your dealing with MS. MS symptoms can be subtle and easily brushed off. Usually once someone has the diagnosis (dx) of MS and learn about the disease they can usually go back to previous years and find a connection to their current dx.

Also, there are many other things that can have symptoms similar to MS. It's difficult but your stuck waiting to see if more or different symptoms show up.
