Re: white spots have showed up on brain MRI is it multiple sclerosis
I want to add, too, that usually, reports do not uses the word white spots- so are you seeing white spots on your MRI, or did your doctor use that term? White spots, always show up on MRIs, and like dogsbestfriend stated, they do not always mean MS....lesions, which are white spots on the MRI, can come from migranes, previous head trauma, brain infections, and many other things....if you have the report, look for terms like demylination, thats the myelin sheath, which is being damaged- a major sign of MS...look for the contrast (if you had contrast when they did your MRI) and see what it says shows upon contrast.. and if you havent let your doctor explain this to you yet, dont panic!!!! Most people look at their reports and their films, and freak out...its not a good idea. And, the radiologist who read the report is not the person who is going to give you the diagnosis anyway...they dont always know exactly what it is they are seeing, its their job to point out what they see, so that the Neuro or MS specialist, can interpret it...
Like everyone else said, MS is liveable- its manageable even. You have nothing to fear except your own mind! Stress and worrying can really make things worse- so do your best to hang tight until you see your doctor. Honestly, the not knowing is much harder then the disease.
