Question waking up to numb arms and hands ?

Ok this is driving me insane but I would bet 6 out of the 7 day's I wake up with my arms and hand's numb. They do eventually come back to life after about 10-15 minutes but it's crazy. The only time this happens is when I am asleep. well thats ironic isn't it? Im asleep and my body goes to sleep. Now that is funny.

Anyone have this same symptom

That happens to me as well, not all the time but both arms and hands feel totally asleep , once I get up and move around its fine. I had an x-ray of my neck but nothing....

The same thing happens to me as well. It drives me crazy!! Never my legs, always my arms and hands. I'm waiting for the day that it doesn't go away after a few minutes.

I have "sleep" arms and hands (sometimes legs) every morning. Cool water has helped me the most.

Re: waking up to numb arms and hands ?

I've been told that most neurological episodes happen when you're lying or sitting down. Scientifically speaking, I don't know that this is true but observationally, this seems to be the case.

What you're describing is my most enduring sx. I do have days where I don't wake up with a hand still asleep but it's pretty common for me. Thankfully, it passes after a few minutes.

At any rate, you're not alone here at all!!

Re: waking up to numb arms and hands ?

This also happens to me ,it sometimes can happen up to six times a night and goes away after about a few minutes of movement .Often I will have it on and off for about a month and then it goes away for months.I dont know that this is related to ms as many of my friends who do not have ms suffer from the same thing and when I quizzed the ms specialist he did not think it was related.

Re: waking up to numb arms and hands ?

This happpens alot to me. More so in the morning.. My hubby hears me huffing and puffing in frustration. Takes one look at me smiles says " Is your electrical wireing up the duff today? " Hmm i laugh
" Nothing a cool shower wont fix.". is how i respond. Sure enough it helps.
