While this is not specifically MS related, I'm sure a great number here have been involved in MRIs and dye injections as part of the procedure.

After you had a contrast/dye injection, was there a lengthy period of time that the area they injected was pins and needles prickly, or caused dull pain?

I had a contrast injection 3 weeks ago (at least), and the area where the injection was performed is slightly sore/feels like pins and needles. The veins in the area (was on my arm) are more pronounced than the arm that was not injected. I also experience dull pain into the pad of my hand below my thumb.

This only began following the injection. A friend stated his continued for up to a month afterwards. The pronounced veins have me more worried. Is this a normal after effect?

Hi Nenu,

I'm in Limbo, so I don't know if it's different for people who do have ms or not, but in January I had a ct-scan with dye and this month had mri with dye and I didn't, and haven't since, experienced anything like that. I never really felt it at all. Try not to worry. I know that's easier said than done. Call your dr. and tell him what you're experiencing. Maybe it's just a reaction from the dye? Good luck and I hope you start to feel better soon.

I've never experienced any reactions or pain from my dye injections either. I would call your doctor and just let him or her know what's going on. Probably nothing but at least your doctor will be aware.

Here's my problem. I don't have, nor can get, a family doctor in my area. None are available. It's a sad tale, but that's the reality of it.

I call an after hours clinic, they can't help. I call the hospital here, they brush it off like it's no big thing. So I'm really in limbo about it. I'll ask the next specialist I'm going to just on the off hand chance they may have heard of this before.

Nenu, you need to call where you had the MRI done- and find out what they think you should do. They may tell you to go to the ER....
THis isnt normal...some people get nauseaus from the contrast, others get dizzy and warm- but having something happen and stay happening this long- is NOT normal..
Please call where you had it done and ask what they would recommend. I would specifically ask to speak to one of the technicians not the front desk person!
