Hi all went to see neuro he done a few tests then we started to talk i noticed he didnt have any of my scan prints i asked him why he said he was just reading what was sent to him (is this normal i thought he was able to tell you what some of the lesions where on your scan ???) anyways i asked him if it sounded like ms he said 50% yes and 50% no ??
he also done bloods which came back normal (did anyone elses come back normal but they still had ms?)have to go for spinal tap then back to see him at the end of july (will he be able to tell me by the results of the spinal if it is ms)many thanks to you all and i wish you all well.

Maybe your doctor only received the written report of the MRI instead of the films themselves, maybe it was inconclusive. I'm sure you could have the lab send him the film. I went and got them myself and took them to my neuro, and I still have them, just in case. I'm pretty sure the written report is the MRI technician's observations, not the doctor's.

I had perfect bloodwork too. There's nothing in your blood that can rule in or rule out MS. I didn't need to get a spinal tap for my diagnosis, but a lot of people do. If it's positive, they should be able to give you a diagnosis. But there are a lot of people here who have had negative spinal taps and still had MS based on their MRIs. I know, it's crazy!

Hopefully your spinal tap will give you some answers. They really need to rule out other things too, and it can take awhile. Try to get your hands on that MRI film! Good luck to you.

HI Lianta. Gotta agree with April on this one. Bloodwork wont rule yes or no on MS, but it will show other things. The fact that it DIDNT show anything else, leaves MS still an option. If you had Lyme, for instance (and the test was accurate) they could dx Lymes..also, things like defiencies, like Vitamin D or B or Iron, would show up in blood work...its actually good that your blood work was normal.

The spinal may or may not show anything either...and like April said, the MRI might have been inconclusive- ask if the doctor can get the films and have them read again, or read them himeslf. YOu can call and ask that question...he might see something that the radiologist didnt- or know someone who might read them again for a second opinion. You can also probably get a copy of the films wherever you had the MRI done. I never leave my MRI wthout a copy of them! I keep them all, I could wallpaper a room with my MRI films and my husband's CT scans. (he has a pulmonary issue).

Another nice thing about having your MRI scans...I was at the grocery store last week and needed to use my Handicapped Parking permit for the third time. I don't abuse it.

A woman yelled at me from her car that I didn't look disabled. I happened to have my MRIs in my trunk. I yelled back, "I have my MRIs! Do you wanna see all the scars on my brain?" Yes, it was immature. I was having a bad day. And if she hadn't driven away, I would have flashed that film to her in a heartbeat.

April, I don't think it's immature standing up for yourself and 'educating' people (although it sounds like this woman didn't want to be educated, she just wanted to continue on her hustle and bustle life). Sometimes you have to be more forward than others

As far as blood work is concerned, mine came back 100% 'normal'. As it was stated, the blood work is to rule out other issues before the MS dx.
