Question Exercise

I was diagnosed about two months ago and I know that exercise is good for you in order to recover quickly from a relapse, but when I work out, I cannot do as much cardio as I used to be able to do. It is kind of discouraging. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can lose weight and stay fit while exercising as a level suitable for me?

Swimming is great as well as a stationary bike, the only problem with a bike vs swimming is that you can overheat on the bike.

They do have a stationary bike that sits in the pool! Though you can not do the cardio you did before, JUST MOVE!! LOL, I often wish I could do or lift 1/10th of what I used to be able to do, but I still feel blessed and consider it a great day when I can walk and I can move. Try not to get rooted to the couch and you can do amazing things.

Stretching your leg and arm muscles is good too. I stretch even when I can not walk. Stretching will keep muscle atrophy at bay.

Can you walk? This is the easiest, least expensive way to exercise. If you live in a safe area, a lovely walk around your neighborhood each day will eventually allow you to build enough strength that you'll begin to walk a bit farther, a bit faster, with fresh air moving through your lungs, feeding your circulatory system. It doesn't cost more than a pair of sturdy walking shoes.

If you don't feel safe walking outside, go to a mall and window shop until you build up enough stamina to walk faster and farther ... good scenery, benches to sit when you need to ... and if the aroma of the bakeries and other food vendors entices you, breathe it in, and use my imaginary diet - just tell yourself that you've just finished eating one of those delectable treats ... and sip some water.

Or best of all, walk with someone and treasure the time it provides for conversation ...

I walk, several times a day

The past few days I've been busy packing/cleaning to move. Being physical, I can tell you that I've felt AMAZING the past several days. Waking up feeling like I got a good night's sleep and refreshed.
