Sometimes as I'm falling asleep, my head will jerk sharply and I will feel dizzy. At times this happens throughout the night in my head and shoulders. It's different from a myoclonic jerk of the leg. This is somewhat disconcerting and keeps me up. Just wondering if this is a common symptom of MS. Thanks for your input!
Hello May. It appears you've been wondering for a long while what exactly is going on with your body. It's tough huh?
With that said, I haven't experienced this sensation of head jerking/dizziness when sleeping or trying to sleep myself. I do get the legs jerking occasionally like you mention.
This alone wouldn't be a symptom specific to MS if you wanted my honest opinion, but I am also not a doctor.
Hi, May. Further to what Nenu said, while I'm sure it's not impossible for this type of neurological glitch to occur in MS, I wouldn't call it a "common" symptom.
Thanks for the responses! Yes, I have been wondering for awhile I've been going to PT, which thankfully has helped. I will have another MRI in November, which is about 10 months after the first one.

My neurologist thinks my herniated cervical disk is causing my problems - which mow is mostly pain in my arms and neck. Originally, I had more diverse problems including some tingling in my hands and feet. When I had a brain MRI done, there were some white matter foci that they saw. He wanted to revisit this later in the year. The possibility of chiari was also brought up, though my low-lying tonsils don't meet the typical herniation. I've been tested for tons of things (lupus, lyme's, sarcoiditis, etc).
Interesting. Maybe do a shout-out to cindys601 -- she's a CM patient and posts not only on the Brain and Nervous Systems board but also on this board. She used to spend a lot of time here when she was in limbo! (You'll see an update from her just today.)

Yup, I was thinking of our girl Cindy when I read 'chiari'.
