Tantra for MS ? - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

ok, maybe a touchy subject with some and I know very very little about this stuff but has anyone had any experience about using tantra yoga practices for MS ? No need for details just wondering if anyone had any thought ?

Twink, if it works for you.....

There is so much unknown out there about things like this....my stepfather who is Turkish and a yoga master, believes wholeheartedly that his Tantra and Yoga practices are helping his Parkinson's disease...and he is faithful in his practice.
Is it helping ? I cannot say...
He has taught me alot about yoga and relaxation techiniques since my dx and I have tried to apply it, but again- my faith in it is weak and I do not feel that this is right for me...it is helping with my balance, though.

Do not let anyone tell you if it can or cant work...it is up to you to find out. Its certainly NOT going to hurt you and is definately worth exploring if you feel the need..

Twink, I had to look this up, as I'd never heard of tantra yoga and wondered if you were referring to tantric yoga. (Seems like it's the same thing but if not, please correct me!)

I believe that Yoga in general is a good thing for MS, because of both the physical and meditative components but quite honestly don't understand why tantric/tantra would specifically recommended. Can you shed some light?

(I'm not challenging that it might be helpful but I've generally seen this recommended for one thing -- and it's not a CNS disease!

Stretching is good for MS patients (Parkinson's too) to keep the body from losing dexterity. Meditation is an alternative treatment that seeks to lower the body's stress level. Both are considered non-drug/alternative.

As with any exercise, stretching included, moderation is important.

Just avoid that type where you exercise in an extremely hot room! As good as yoga is for the body, I can just see an MS patient swooning as soon as they enter the room!

Beeram Yoga? I can't remember what it's called.
