Re: port vs picc line

A port would be less likely to be relocated. A PICC line is inserted into a vein, but care needs to be taken to monitor the vein for long-term. My mom had PICC lines in this past summer while in ICU. The doctors relocated the PICC 4 times as their policy was a maximum of 3 weeks or sooner.

Ask your son's doctor the "pro's and con's" of Port versus PICC. After listening to your son's doctor's advice, then you and your son can make the best informed decision.
