Hi Curley! No, I cant say that I had depression from Rebif. I think, in the beginning of my diagnosis, and while still adjusting to the Rebif itself, I was bummed out. Not enough to stop me from everyday activities or enough for me to seek help for depression- but in the beginning, just dealing with a new disease, learning to inject, etc- was enough to make me bummed some days..it did go away as I got used to the disease and realized my life wasnt going to change.
As for sleepless nights- yes. Rebif gives me a boost of power (energy) a few hours after I take it and I found that if I take it past 7 pm, forget it. I toss and turn all night long. I was given a script for Ambien, which I try not to abuse, but when i am up for two or three nights in a row, Ill pop one just to get a good nights sleep. Now, I try to always do my shot as soon as I get home from work, and in the AM if possible...then, I have no problem with sleeplessness. I have heard from others on the drug that it can cause restlessness at night, so this isnt a new phenomenon.
Are you having real problems with this? You should talk to your doctor about it...try taking it earlier in the evening- and watch all the other things which can keep you up at night. ie. Caffeine, working out too late, sugar. Try to do some relaxation techiniques when you get to bed- relaxing your feet, your legs, your core, your arms....working your way up. Also, TV and Radio are no- nos when you are trying to unwind your brain! Stick with a quiet atmosphere or a good book.
The last thing Ive found that helps is a good cup of cammomile tea- it really does relax me when Im all wound up!
I hope you feel more like yourself soon!
Nikki
