Immuno modifying drugs - Multiple Sclerosis Message Board

Hello,

I am 36 years old and for the last 7 years I have had symptoms(sharp pains in left eye and feet, twitches, tingling, numbness, slurred speach, reduced hearing in right ear)for approximately a month then the symptoms go away:

Vision eye potentials were slow in left eye,
Brain MRI showed three white matter lesions deep in brain near corpus callosum.
When I am given a neurologic exam of strength, balance etc. the neurologist says I do not show any issues.

My main focus is to be positive and believe I will be ok for a very long time. Doctor has said this is probable MS. He said he could put me on a mild immuno modifier drug but I am unsure if I want to do this. Please respond and let me know experiences with these immuno modifiers like inteferons?

Ive been on Rebif (an Interferon) for 3+ years...best thing that ever happened to me. I no longer have relapses, no new symtoms in 3 years..much higher energy level and overall, its easy to adjust to. Not to say the first few months arent tough- they are...your body takes awhile to get past the "flu like" symtoms which come with starting any Interferon (rebif, Avonex or Betaseron) but it takes less time to adjust to Rebif, its given 3 times a week, then the ones you only take once a week...and once you get used to it, there are absolutely no side effects.
Maybe you need a second opinion from another doctor?
