I have heard that often even if a doctor suspects MS she/he will avoid saying so, and will put the patient off as long as possible, because sometimes an MS diagnosis will make a patient go downhill a lot faster.

True?

Dear Maia,
I have never heard of this. I was dx 3 years ago with MS after extensive but very fast testing. I did a lot of research on MS after finding out that I had it. I have never run across the idea that doctors withhold the diagnosis from patients. Generally they are relieved to figure out what it is and pass on the info so the person knows what's going on.

Thanks for that. It's good to hear as I am seeing a neurologist today and one of my fears is that he will put me off with a 'wait and see' approach. The other fear of course, is that I have MS. But I'd much rather *know* than be left endlessly wondering.

Hi Maia! I didn't see your last post till just now, so I'm 3 days behind. What happened on your Dr. visit? How did it go? How are you doing?

Hi,

Well the neurologist said he didn't think it sounded like MS. My symptoms are too wandering and transitory. (Numbness and tingling that comes and goes all over my body.) He said for every 100 people who come to him with similar symptoms, only 1 or 2 are MS.

However, I am having an MRI, and due to a cancellation I am able to have one *tomorrow*! Yikes!
