Over the counter cold products and new symptoms

I have a question about taking products that are suppose to protect against colds. I was taking an OTC (cold fx) to prevent catching a cold while travelling on a plane I soon landed in hospital with some new symptoms. (Bladder was retaining urine) and other symptoms. Could have this been triggered by the cold fx.
any thoughts would be appreciated.

wishing everyone a Happy Holiday

Re: Over the counter cold products and new symptoms

Im not familiar with that brand name, however check to see if it has Echinacea in it. Echinacea, a root (herb) often used to ward off colds or shorten their duration has been very controversial over the past few years. It is absolutely NOT recommended for MS patients, or anyone with any type of autoimmune disease.

If you did take it and it caused these problems, I wouldnt be surprised....if you took something else, which is "all natural' and made of herbs, you should probably check with your Neurologist. Herbal and natural remedies dont always go hand in hand with MS...

Hope you feel better soon.
Nikki
