Didn't think I would ever post here, usually post at back problems and pain management.
But, there has been suspision of me having MS for a while now. I was suossd o do to doctos's to rule it out, bt i didn't go cuz i thought it was silly.
Now, reading up on it, many "moons" later, I actually have almost every symtom. I am scheduled for a MRI on sat. the 22. Will that rule it out, or leave qestin still unanswered?
Please help me. If someone could give me a brief discription of MS, not text book you find on tth web, i wold apprecialte it.

Since MS is quite t he bazaar disease and there are many that mimic I would suggest seeing a neurologist that is highly qualified to rile out MS and other illnesses. A specialist might be in order, however most do not take insurance. If you have a PPO, there should be no problem on reimbursement.
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone
amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

MS symptoms can vary greatly from one patient to another. I can tell you mine, and can tell you what the most common are.
I need a cane to walk and can only walk 50 feet or so. leg weakness is common among people with MS
I have problems with bladder control. This too is a common symptom.
I have general fatigue. I basically just feel tired most of the time, even after I have slept all night. This might be the most common symptom.
I have some mild double vision. Vision problems are common as well.
For some MS'ers, symptoms come and go. For example your arm might go numb, for a month, then full feeling will return and you won't experience that symptom again for 10 or more years. btw, numbness is also common.
for others, symptoms just get progressively worse. these two forms of MS are called relapsing remitting and progressive.
My advice is the same as the other poster. Make an appointment with a neurologist. One who specializes in MS would be preferable. If you live near a large city, chances are you will find one a university hospital.
I am seeing a neurologist right after I have an MRI for the possible MS. I don't know what the MRI will show but obviously it will show something. I just know that I am scared. (Plus I hate MRI's, lol)
I too walk with a cane, have loss of bladder (not all the time) have sensensation loss (you know where), pain, vision is starting to go, I chalked it up to old age, but i'm 33 so.......legs sometimes just don't want to work with the mind, forget to walk, I slur sometimes, I forgot simple words, like "car", I have memory problems, and so many more. I wish it were something simple, but fear is getting in the way. What do i have to look forward to, after the MRI?
Thanks,
dayna
