Mri

Niki,

I have a MRI question. Earlier this week I had a MRI and the Nurse called me to let me know that the new scan looked better then the last. I was unable to speak to the Doctor to get clairifacation. If I understand MS lesions do not go away. Whats your thoughts?

Thanks

Re: Mri

sometimes, if they are really little lesions, they do go away. Sometimes, if there were a ton of NEW lesions last time, and no new ones, or less new ones, its considered "better" then last time. Sometimes, when they expect to see something they dont see- its just plain "better'.

Its illegal for a nurse to give you results unless the result she is reporting is "normal"- which any of us know, is not likely to happen...so the fact that she didnt give you any results specifically isnt unusual.

Hang tight till you see or talk to the doctor....and do yourself a favor and ask for a copy of the report for your own files. I also hope you asked for a copy of the films?? Your doctor should be viewing the films along with the report- radiologists who write reports sometimes miss things that the doctor picks up. And, for your own records, you should have both films (or CD) and a report for future reference should you need to see another doctor for any reason.
Hope that helps.
Nikki
