Filling in disability allowance form

I have recently been diagnosed with MS and I am trying to fill in all the relevant form such as the living allowance claim form. The question on how far can you walk is difficult. I can walk for about five minute without dragging my left foot. Can somebody tell me how many metres this would be - rough estimate. Hopeless at Maths.

Re: Filling in disability allowance form

Welcome. Because your stride and your speed are unknown, it would be best to mark off a route to follow or use a pedometer. Your last minute of walking before you stop will be much slower then your start.

I have 12 inch tiles in my house. Using these as reference points, I can measure how long before my leg starts dragging (my left leg too). BUT it depends on the day of the week or whether I am having a bad day. Perhaps you need to average yourself over a week's time? Some days I will awake with my left leg dragging until bed. On other days it drags part way through the day (usually the latter half of the day.

Re: Filling in disability allowance form

Thank you for your help. It's awful this. After nearly ten years of going back and forwards to the doctors and consultants, it has finally been diagnosed that I have MS. I knew there was something wrong but I am still in shock. However, I am determined that it will not get me down. Life goes on.
