Trileptal

Any advice on trileptal and how it helps with MS and how long does it take for it to kick-in?

Re: Trileptal

Hi Kola32,

What was Trileptal prescribed for?

Trileptal is an anticonvulsant medication that is used for seizures and in MS it can be helpful for pain. Many medications are used "off label" for MS. There are very few medication that are FDA approved specifically for MS.

I used Trileptal for pain,, I don't deal with seizures. I thought I was noticing a difference in my pain after about a week and was starting to increase the dosage. It was about 2 more weeks before I became suicidal...medication induced. Needless to say I stopped Trileptal cold turkey which is not recommend, but I felt my safety was more important.

Although that was my experience it doesn't mean it will be yours but it is important to understand and research medication side effects.

I hope Trileptal helps

Re: Trileptal

It was prescribed for the "MS Hug" tight band around the waist. My last flare was in the spine. I was told trileptal should help ease the symptoms. A 30 day supply was $69.00 with insurance. Glad I only got half to see how they would work. Really don't to take ANYTHING that will make things worse! Thanks for the help.
