MRI Normal

So I was told that it normal. Still dealing with all of the symptoms in the post I stated in here last month. I see my gp this week so see what he has to say. I could just have fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and tremors and just having a really bad spell.

Re: MRI Normal

Mom,
I apologize that I truly do not know if you had a MRI of both the brain and Cspine...or if you had it/ them with and without contrast?

MS lesions can not show up one day and a week later show up. If they are truly suspecting MS and you have a good doctor, just because your MRI was normal this time, shouldnt rule out the possiblity. They should be repeating it in 6 months...

if it wasnt done with contrast, than its not a legit response. Contrast is used to see things which otherwise wouldnt be picked up without it..

Im sorry you didnt get the answers you seek, but I wouldnt rule out anything at this point....are you utilizing a MS specialist or a general Neuro? A good doctor will tell you that he wants to monitor your symptoms and repeat this down the road...dont let anyone RULE OUT anything until you are completely satisfied that every test has been done.

I hope you feel better.
Nikki

Re: MRI Normal

Who said it was normal? A "normal" MRI does not eliminate MS. Additional tests must be run. If your doctor is following the revised McDonald Criteria and methodically weeding out possible causes, you should arrive at a resolution.

Re: MRI Normal

My neurologist who is a ms specialist said its normal. I've been seeing him for 2 years and I haven't been happy with him for the past year. Mri was not done with contrast. I've had mri of cspine in June and due for another to watch a cyst that is inside the spinal canal. My neck is all jacked up.

Re: MRI Normal

If he has been meandering for 2 years, I would encourage a pair of fresh eyes. After two years you should have some idea of what you have and have a plan of action in place. I think you can find other MS Specialists there who will help you get the answers you need.

Re: MRI Normal

I will be talking to my reg doc this week and see what he says. I've been going to him for a year now and has done more for me than my neurologist. All the neurologist does is give me more meds that I can't take
