Question Does anyone want to talk to me?

I ma 15 years old, and my boyfriend is 16. He has muscular dystrophy. I feel like I am the only girl dating someone like him, it is frustrating that people don't se ehis as I do. I don't know how to help him, like when he is depressed or starting a new treatment, and I want him to feel loved by me. Can anyone help me? I love him very much.

The fact that you even refer to your boyfriend as a freak shows that you are too immature to date anyone, much less someone who has to deal with teenage angst as well as MD. If you feel "different" because he is not like the boyfriends your friends have please grow up and learn that when you truly care for and love someone you don't do it out of pity but out of your heart.

kawail, Did your thoughts slip out in your writing? However that it was a poor choice of words. Do you honestly think he's a freak? I think maybe this is something you've heard from some snotty teenage snobs, maken fun of you liking someone with a disability. If that is not the case, or not even close to it, and you really do think he's a freak, then Penquin Chick had a very good point. I hope it's not the case however.

If you truly want to help.........The watercure diet is tops on the list for helping MS. Check out: Open Topics' under William Green (please, please, please help.) last post was on 6/4/02 I posted two diff. times. read it and write it down. It's really suppose to be great for MS.

Kawail....I'm not sure where to start with this.

I am a Personal Assistant for a wonderful lady with MD,
she is a very smart and intelligent, well educated, caring, sensitive person. I have been working for her for about 5 months now and love every minute of it.

She has taught me so much about her disease and the effects of the form of MD that she has, but she has also taught me about the other 39 or so forms of it out there.

One of the biggest things she explained to me was that just because MD was robbing her body didn't mean it was also robbing her mind!!!

I feel VERY LUCKY not only to work with her but also to have her as a friend and neighbor (across the street). I am also able to come right out and ask her anything I may not know or understand and she is more than willing to explain it to me.

I think you are very uninformed and need to spend some time researching the form of MD you "boyfriend" has.

As far as that comment "I JUST WANT HIM TO BE LOVED" I'm sure he is, and it sounds as though you feel sorry for him for all of the wrong reasons. He doesn't need that, he is going through enough with this disease.

My advice is to become better informed and try talking to him, he might just suprise you.

Please feel free to e-mail me if you need to talk more. I'm not mad "AT" you, I'm just frustrated with the over misunderstanding of the Disabled in our society.

My Mom, Dad, Oldest Daughter, and Fiance' are all disabled.

Please write and I will try to help in any way I can.

Rainfeather

MS and MD are two very different things. There seems to be many more treatments for MS than MD, though I don't know how effective any of them are.
