What type of dr do you see?

My husband has Charcot-Marie-Tooth MD (one where he loses sensation in hands and feet, bad balance, hurts all the time, etc) and hasn't been to a real dr since he was teenaged (he's 35 this year). With our son being born soon, I'm worried abouthim getting worse and was wondering what specialtist you see to help manage your MD? He's in a tremendous amount of pain, and I don't know how to help him...thanks.

Re: What type of dr do you see?

I have a neuromuscular disease, possibly a Limb-Girdle MD -- I see a Neurologist.

Re: What type of dr do you see?

Yes, a neurologist is definitely the specialist he should see. Better yet, your local Muscular Dystrophy clinic is staffed with neurologists that specialize in muscular dystrophy. They are experts. I fully realize that this illness makes a person feel weak with no energy, making doctor's visits difficult and undesirable. But he should really be seeing someone who can offer help. Best of luck to you both.
