I have had lupus since 1994 and polymyositis since 1997. My doctor is wanting me to start Imuran. My CPK is not extremely high lately but stays elevated most of the time and is cause for painful muscles and a constant fatique. For some reason I am very afraid of Imuran. I have less fear of prednisone but she doesn't want to continue it. I don't want to destroy my immune system, have infections I can't fight off, poison my liver, and lose my hair. But I don't know if I'm over-reacting. Anyone out there with experience with this drug, I'd love to hear how you feel about it, how it has worked for you, and what the side effects have been.
