| Polymyositis and CK levels
Hi,
Im a 20 year old male, and have recently been diagnosed with Polymyositis about 6 weeks ago.
I noticed a big drop in muscle strength and had muscle weakness that was getting worse. My initial blood test revealed a CK count of over 8,000. And I was hospitalised, had a muscle biposy and an EMG, which confirmed Polymyositis.
As soon as I was in hospital (4 days) I was started on 60mg of Predinose once a day. In 4 days of Prednisone my CK levels dropped to around 2500.
Anywho, straight to my question:
I am having another blood test to check my CK levels next Wednesday, I am very active, do a lot of running and weightlifting, and I fear these may cause artificially high CK levels. Should I not exercise at all from mon - wed before the test just to be safe? thanks.
I am currently on 37.5mg of prednisone, and my last ck count was 3500 1 month of being on it.
