Amyopathic dermatomyositis rash/cold weather
I was diagnosed with amyopathic dermatomyositis in April of this year. Luckily, I've had a relatively mild case. I started Plaquenil in April and I've responded well so far.
Since being on the meds, the main symptoms that have persisted have been the rashes on my hands, though they have shown improvement. I've noticed the Gottron's papules, blotchy redness, thin-purplish-spidery veins, nail bed redness, & cracking skin seem to come and go. Sometimes my hands look completely clear, but they always seem to act up when I shower or wash my hands in hot water, and occasionally at other seemingly unpredictable moments. Recently, with the increasingly cold weather, they seem to be getting worse. I haven't had rashes this bad since I was essentially bed-ridden with fatigue and inflammation prior to my diagnosis. Has anyone else experienced these temperature-related fluctuations?
I noticed another post mentioned the effects of hot water, but I haven't seen anything about the effects of cold on the rashes. I also have Raynaud's, so I've been trying my best to keep my hands warm anyway, but that has proven to be pretty difficult in this weather (and having a crappy heater doesn't help the situation).
