Unhappy Social security disability

I was diagnoised with dermamyositis and plaque on the brain 2 years ago. I do not think I can keep working. Has anyone with my disease gotten on SSD? If so how long did it take? Thanks, Teresa

It takes a while to get your first SSD check- you, also proof you are not able to work anymore- you will have to see one of their doctors that they send you too. Also you have to have your family doctor say that you are not able work. Once you do get all this taken care of= and from the day you file for SSD; is how you will paid. Say it will take a year like sometime it does if not longer- you will have a check made out to you for your back pay for that year-

With SSI though you do not get all your back at once- now, if you are able to get SSD- go that way you will make more being on DDS then SSI- also on SSD you will get 250 dollars on top of it each year- it is called a setelment check- and with SSI you do not get one....

Good Luck
