Repeated metetarsal stress fractures in 20 yea old

Hi - Im going to make a long story short so here goes:

-20 year old female
- eating disorder since 15 ("healthy" weight now, so not so much an issue)
-NOMRAL blood levels
-stress fractures in metetarsals for two years straight now with no apparent cause (aka...didn't break them while running, didn't trip, no nothing - just woke up one day and they were hurting)
-taking supplements, doing everything "right," wear the boots, and then take them off only to have bones break again
-Had a bone density scan last year, and didn't hear back meaning that everything was fine.

WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!
(osteopenia, or some other weird disease that I am oblivious too?)

what treatment options do I have at this point? I'm taking the supplements, so do I need some other kind of therapy? I don't want to do anything more with pills because they are so slow, so is there a shot or iv treatment I can do?

Please, please, please help. I'm getting desperate

Hi samsa, was just reading ur post and wondering if you had found out
what was going on with you. I am older than you (48) but I also am having
stress fractures for no apparent reason. Hope things are better for you now.

Re: Repeated metetarsal stress fractures in 20 yea old

Hey -

so I ended up breaking two more small bones in my foot before the splint came off around mid november. By then it was advised that I take something since I still left to lay down new bone before I reach 23. They also told me to take another dexa scan next year (my last one showed i was about 1.5 deviations below normal).
I have now been taking something called Forteo every day. It is really meant for osteoporosis but will do the job that is needed for my bones. It is a shot, but not that bad at all. In terms of how long I will be taking it, that probably around three months - but I think that it is really going to depend on how I feel about taking it and its effects on my body.
For sure go and see a rheumatologist. I finally ended up there after the 4th break in october.
Hope that this helps!
