Dr not treating polymyositis???

Diagnosed with fibromyalgia and polymyositis. Elevated SED rate and CRP and symptoms were basis for diagnosis. Dr put me on Savella and Cymbalta. I take that along with Bystolic for BP.

My Dr acts like polymyositis is no big deal. He wants to see me back in 4 weeks to see how the meds are working. I have read that if left untreated, things can get bad. I didn't ask Dr why he wasn't going to treat it. Well, he said its treated with anti-inflammatory meds.

What do y'all think?

Re: Dr not treating polymyositis???

I would encourage you to seek out a specialist (rheumy or neurologist) who is well informed with treating patients with myositis. Good luck.
