Have tried everything for fungal nail need new suggestions - Nail Problems Message Board

I have a fungal nail on toenail. I have had it like 8years at least. I have been to a doctor who prescribed the antifungal medicine that you take by mouth for 3 months. I did this with no result. This was a couple of years back. I have put everything on it since with no result. Lately i have been putting on tea tree oil twice daily with someother antifungal nail polish that has just recently been approved by fda can't remember it's name but cost me like $50. It does seem to be a little better more dried out. I am just wondering if anyone knows something that has helped them.

My podiarist suggested tea tree oil 2x daily. I read an article in woman's world where only 2 things can help a fungus. Tea tree oil and camorol (by prescription). I've used month and they both help clear up my fungus. I am diabetic.

Thymol will also help to cure nail fungus. If you have heard the recommendations from many on this board to use Vicks Vapor Rub for nail fungus, you will see on the jar that it contains Thymol - it is the thymol that helps to cure the fungus.

You are right inkeeping the nails dried out with the tea tree oil as fungal spores love moist environments. Please also remember NOT to go barefoot outside as fungal spores also live in dirt.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried the vick's vapor rub, and peroxide and every other drying agent agent I can think of. They haven't seemed to work. I think since I have had it so long, it must be really resistant. Anyway can you buy the thymol by itself i might try that. I'll take any suggestions i can get.
