Will they come back?? - Nail Problems Message Board

Back in Dec I was hospitalized for three weeks. During those three weeks I got a very bad infection on six of my nails. I had to be IV and pills to clear it up. The infection cleared up, but they wrecked three of my nails. The nails were coming off, so I gently helped them along and took them off, and then clipped off the rest with a nail clipper. My question is, how long will it take to grow back? Will they grow back? I don't see any type of nail coming through yet. I am scared...I don't want three of my finger nails to look like this forever....please help!!

It can take up to 6 months for a finger nail to completely replace itself depending on your genetics. If the nails were damaged in December, you will have seen VERY LITTLE difference in this short amount of time. Fingernails grow faster than toenails and will also grow faster in the summertime.

Hi, I one of my fingernails stopped growing. I was worried that I might have a underlining medical condition that caused my nail to quit growing. I went to a doctor. Anyways it did finally grow back. Took about 5 months.
