My big toe seems to be bruised under the nail. It has been like this for about a month now. It doesn't really hurt, just looks a reddish purplish. I think it happened one night when I was dancing in boots. The next morning my toe was hurting really bad. Anyone know anything about this. Will it eventually get better? Anthing I can do to help it along?

It sounds like a hematoma (bruise) to me. It will grow forward with the nail plate; however, it may separate as the dried blood touches the free edge. It will be fine - it just won't look too good. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes; shoes that don't pinch the toes together or place undue pressure on the surface of the nail plate.
I have this too on my big toe from dropping a skid on my foot about 7wks ago.It has started growing out half way so at least it's getting to the end; I'm a little scared about what's going to happen when it gets there tho Like will half the nail fall/peel off? I know the dead blood underneath it has to go somewhere.Should i put nail polish on it to keep it strengthened or will that weaken it?

It will only "fall off" if the nail plate was totall y broken into two separate pieces. Polish will not make it stronger, but can actually hold more moisture in the nail plate which could increase the risk for infection.
