Brown stripe on fingernail - Nail Problems Message Board

Hello,
I would like to know what it is on my left thumbnail.
It looks like a brown discolouration of the nail, and it seems to be growing with the nail!
I was told something about iron deficiency...
Can anyone tell me something more specific about it?
and How can this be fixed?

If tghe brown line begins underneath the cuticle and it is growing forward with the nail platem, it is usually characteristic of a nail mole, which may or may not be malignant. I would see your doctor or dermatologist ASAP.

ah yes... it's growing from under the cuticle..
could it be something serious?

Yes dear, it could be something VERY serious - please see your physician. It could very well be melanonychia, which means it might be a cancerous mole growing in the nail matrix.
