Toe ran over - Nail Problems Message Board

I work in a grocery store and while helping to move some product one of my fellow workers ran over my toe with an extremely heavy cart. The nail on my toe became brittle and I cut it off. My nail now grows back darker than it was before, a brownish color. The skin around the toe is also bruised black and blue. I am able to cut the nail down almost to the base with no pain so I think I may have damaged some nerves. Also the skin has become very dry and I find myslef always removing the dead skin growing around the nail. This happened about 3 months ago and I thought it may have healed by now. The injury has gotten better but very very slowly. How long will it take for my toe to heal completely if it can?

You may have also contracted an infection in the nail bed and the surrounding skin. I highly suggest you see your physician. If the nail is very dark, you may have injured the matrix, or you may have an infection in the matrix.
