Damaged Finger Nail (Blue all over) - Nail Problems Message Board

I shut a door on my middle left hand finger yesterday and the nail turned intstantly blue. Its hurting like hell, stabbing pain etc, though I can just about bend it with the swelling (so it aint broke). I guess the nail will eventually fall off - anything I can do in the meantime to help it heal?

Well woke up this morning at 3am in agony so went to hospital and they burnt the nail open with a hot paperclip - god that hurt. Then they pressured the blood out. Feels a hell of a lot better now

I was mowing the lawn with a push mower and I was trying to push it up an incline and well my foot went under and was hit by the blade 3 times. EEEK! I went to the emergency room, all I had was a hematoma (sp?) and the doc had to burn a hole in my toe nail to releave the pressure. The doc told me that it wouldn't hurt at all, so he bent over my foot and as soon as he touched the little rod to my toe I almost kicked him in the face...hehehe. So I know exactly how it felt...hurt like a SOB!
Glad that you are feeling better though.
