Let me give both of you a little chemistry here and explain the molecular structure of Vitamin E and a few other essential oils.
Jojoba Oil has the tiniest molecule imaginable and could be compared (in essencea) to the head of a pin.
Vitamin E has the largest molecule imaginable and could be compared to an eraser on a pencil.
The moleucles of your skin can also be compared to the head of a pin in size.
Other essential oils with a 'medium' size molecule include Almond oil, rice bran oil, safflower oil, grapeseed oil, passion flower oil and a few others that are used for the skin and nails.
If one were to apply vitamin E oil to the skin and nails, it could not penetrate into the underlying tissues or nail plate cells because the molecular structure is just WAYYYYYYYYYY to large. Now, if one were to mix 4 parts jojoba oil to 1 part vitamin E, the story changes. The jojoba oil can penetrate the surface layer of hte skin and nails, open up the pores of the skin or the spaces between the nail plate cells and then allow the large molecule of the vitamin E and other essential oils to be drawn in after it. This is why I always recommend either of hte two oils I mentioned in my previous post. I also will mix my own oils depending on what I will be using them for.
For Skin:
4oz. jojoba oil
1/2 oz. vitamin E
2 oz. almond oil (or grapeseed, safflower, passion fruit or any other conditioning, moisturizing oil)
For Nails:
2oz. jojoba oil
1oz. vitamin E
2oz. almond oil
1oz. either grapeseed, safflower, passion fruit, etc.
Vitamin E is good for the skin because it rids the skin of the free-radicals that lead to premature aging. It is good for the nails because it keeps them flexible ad strong. If it is applied as a single oil, it will only sit on the surface of the skin without penetrating to the underlying tissues. Mixed with jojoba oil, it wil do a MUCH better job!
