Flexible/curved nails - Nail Problems Message Board

I have nails that are VERY flexible (I call them 'bendy nails'). My ring, middle, and index fingers on both my hands also have a tendency to start to curve down towards my fingertip. If left to grow long enough, it never touches my finger, but rather seems to want to curve around. My two index fingers seem to be the worst, having a more exaggerated curve in the nail, but it seems to just be towards the middle of the nail - the ends of the nail don't seem to curve towards the finger tip but seem to stay flat. I can't stand the sound of a nail file, so my nails are generally left squared, which bothers me b/c even when I was getting them filed weekly, they still seem boxy.

Does anyone else have this problem (very thin/flexible nails that curve back towards the finger tip)? I do wash my hands several times a day (work with animals all day), but the soap is SUPPOSE to be a moisturizing foam.

I'd appreciate any advice/help that is given.

The growth of the nail plate will follow the shape of the underlying fingertip bone. Nail plate shape is also genetic, so there isn't much you can do to change the shape. You might try using a crystal nail file - it doesn't sound the same as a paper file does. You might also try having nail enhancements applied to change the way you rnails look, but it still won't change the way they grow.
