OPI nail envy - Nail Problems Message Board

I had acrylic nails for years because my own nails are really thin and split. I got tired of the cost and having to go get them done and took them off.
WOW are my nails thin. I say a tv show talking about this opi nail envy to strengthen nails does it work? If not what is best??

Hi, I have been a nail tech since '85, first how did you remove them? Did you soak them or pick/peel them off? Your nails are made up of 8 layers, so the more you pick the thinner the nails get. It takes anywhere from 6-9 months to grow a new nail, that is just from the nail base to the end of your finger. I would recommend that you keep them trimmed as short as possible and OPI nail envy is ok, but if you want some advice from someone who has gone "naked" from acrylics from time to time, I always go to the Sally Hansen section of WalMart. That product line is tried and true and had never let me down. Aslo remember to massage a good cuticle oil into your cuticles on a daily basis that increases circulation and promotes nail growth. OPI nail envy worked pretty good. I was just having a hard time with them breaking off during the winter months. I got mine at a cosmetology school. I was actually a student there. Otherwise, I would have never known they had it there. It was alot cheaper than any salon! Sally Hansen worked pretty good, too. Just kinda up to you. Goodluck!!

I soaked them off and had a manicure yesterday the tech said they were in great condition considering the length of time I had acrylics on and the short time since the removal.
I did buy a bottle of nail envy I figured with what I had been spending on fill ins it was worth it if it helped.
They actually look great now even though they are short, which I dont mind as long as they look ok.
I will probably get a manicure once a month for awhile.

If you can get some Solar Oil from the same salon, it will help consition the nails and cuticles. Apply at least twice a day and masage into the nails and ckin. If not Solar Oil, try Botanical Oil from the nail department of Sally Beauty Supply. Both oils are excellent and will help to keep yournails flexible, strong, conditioned and moisturized.

FYI: The reason yournails are thin is due to over-filing of your natural nails during prep and finishing of the full set(s) and fills. the product doesn't thin out the nails, your nail tech does.
