Ingrown Toe Nail - Nail Problems Message Board

Yesterday I had gotten my ingrown toe nail removed, and the roots burned out and had some dark colored liquid put on the roots as well to burn them away some more. My toe was in horrible condition. We had to call the doctor to come out on his vacation it was in so much pain.

We have bought this cream called :
Triple Antibiotic Ointment
Polimyxin B sulfate, bacitracin zinc, and gramicidin ointmen, Vitamin E Enriched

The doctor said this was perfect. But I still have cream from when I got my other big toe nails removed. (I have gotten my left foot big toe nail removed 3 times, and the 3rd time the roots are now gone because he burned them. On my right foot the nail has only been taken out once on my big toe, and when it grows back he will burn the roots once again.)

The thing is. Is I used a different cream when I had all my other toe nails done.

Fucidin* Cream
Fusidic acid cream 2%
Topical Antibiotic

This bottle is still half full.

The problem. Is my mom is out for a few days and I only have a bit left of the Triple Antibiotic Ointment. And will not be able to go buy more cream myself due to my lack of ability to walk right now.

Is it possible for me to use the Fucidin cream on my toe after the Triple Antibiotic Ointment bottle is empty?

It depends on how long you have had the other medication. The shelf life of opened liquid medications is only about 6 months, so if you have had it longer than that, it probably won't do you any good. You can still use the ointment until your mom gets home - just use smaller amounts of it and be sure not to rub the toe on anything that would cause it to be removed. We are all used to using great globs of 'stuff' when it really only takes a 'very small' amount.
